Go Speed Racer!
Posted by admin on June 19th, 2008 filed in PersonalSometimes a fast moving object can appear blurry. For example, In the second part of the intro for “Money Ain’t A Thing,” under the Videos page, if you stop and look at each individual frame when Lloyd is running he is somewhat blurry. To fix this the best way is to increase the shutter speed slightly. The shutter speed controls the amount of light that enters the camera. It acts like a blinking eye. If you increase the speed at which your eye (shutter) blinks you will have less movement and your images will not be as blurry. The rule of thumb for regular shooting is about 1/60th of a second. If you are shooting at 24 frames per second, it is 1/48th. I would try increasing the shutter speed just slightly to 1/96th of a second for the fast moving objects. However, if you increase the shutter speed you must also INCREASE LIGHT.
If you dramatically increased the shutter speed, like they do in zombie movies, you will have staccato like movements. If you decrease the shutter speed dramatically you will have very blurry images and your moving objects will have trails around them, similar to if you were watching a movie drunk.
