Derek Sieg & “Swedish Auto”

Last week, I had the pleasure of speaking with Derek Sieg, he is a fellow UVA alumni and Charlottesville native (WAHS 1996). His first feature film, “Swedish Auto,” was shot with around a $1M budget, entirely in Charlottesville and Albemarle County. It was picked up for distribution by IFC Films and avialable exclusively On Demand from IFC festival direct. I asked Derek if IFC planned on a local theatrical premiere and he said, “its not likely anymore.” This film will be available on DVD in the next couple months.

Derek Sieg wrote and directed the film, and it was shot in 18 days in the Fall of 2005. It premiered opening night at the VA Film festival in 2006 and went on to win awards at other major international film festivals.
