So You Want to Start a Business?

Last week, I went to a seminar hosted by Darden professor, Edward Hess. He was promoting his new book, “So You Want to Start a Business?” and had an interactive lecture on what it means to start a business and how to avoid the common pitfalls.
A couple highlights Edward Hess mentioned at the lecture:
1.) Idea vs. Opportunity: There are essentially no new business ideas, rather than opportunities.
2.) He said that he has never seen anybody make a projection and make it with that cost in his lifetime.
3.) Get the 3 “W’s” right from the start: What will you sell, who will buy it, and why will they buy it?
4.) Learn – Listen – Adapt – Listen – Listen – Listen
